Phoenix Racing is looking forward to an action-packed weekend: In Monza, both the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and the GT4 European Series season openers are on the team’s calendar, as well as the second VLN race at the Nürburgring. Here are the key facts:
Blancpain GT Series:
Phoenix Racing fields one car in the Endurance Cup. In Monza, the three season-newcomers Kim-Luis Schramm, Finlay Hutchison and Ivan Pareras will be driving the new Audi R8 LMS GT3. The season starts in Italy, not far from Milan, on the Monza Eni Circuit, where the Endurance Cup season opener has traditionally been taking place for many years. At the Italian track, the Phoenix Racing trio will be fighting for points in the Silver Cup class in a strong field of 49 cars. The 3-hour race is scheduled for Sunday, 15:00. The race and qualifying session can be followed online via live stream on the official Blancpain GT Series website.
GT4 European Series:
In the GT4 European Series two familiar faces, Cédric Freiburghaus and last year’s champion Nicolaj Møller Madsen, are competing in Monza – for the first time since 2016. The duo clearly has one goal in mind: defending the title. As in the previous year, two races are scheduled for the weekend and 37 cars also make for a full grid. The first race gets underway on Saturday at 15:10 and will last an hour, followed by the second race on Sunday at 12:05. The races can also be streamed on the official website.
In the VLN the reliable duo Frank Stippler and Vincent Kolb will be racing – together with Jamie Green. The race will certainly be thrilling not only because of the packed starting field of 193 cars. The forecast announces typical Eifel weather with cool temperatures and rain – similar conditions to the season opener three weeks ago. As usual, the 4-hour race starts at 12:00. Livestream and live ticker will be available online on Saturday.
