It was another weekend packed full of motorsport for Phoenix Racing. Alongside the first round of the ADAC GT Masters season, the Meuspath-based team was also in action at the 6-hours qualifying race. At the Nürburgring junior GT4 drivers Nicolaj Møller Madsen and Milan Dontje secured second place in the SP10 class together with experienced pilot Jörg Viebahn.
The trio put in an impressive performance in the two qualifying sessions on Saturday. In the first qualifying session, the driver team in the Audi R8 LMS GT4 progressed to the subsequent top 30 qualifying. .
Møller Madsen, Dontje and Viebahn started Sunday’s race as the best GT4 car from 29th position. The three drivers were in great form right from the word go. Viebahn took over the final stint for the team and finished 26th overall, securing a podium for the Phoenix Racing entry.
“We can be happy with our performance this weekend,” said Team Principal Dirk Theimann. “The car was reliable and we were able to go through our test programme without any major issues. We spent much of the weekend working on the set-up and are confident ahead of next month’s 24-hours race.”
The second Audi of Nicolaj Møller Madsen, Alexander Mies and Christian Abt finished in 32nd position overall and secured the second place in the SP-X category.
The legendary 24-hours race in the Eifel takes place from 10 to 13 May. Sport1 will be broadcasting the race on free-to-air TV. Fans can also keep track of the action on the live stream on the official website.
