Phoenix Racing puts motorsport activities on ice

Normally motorsport doesn’t have much to do with ice hockey – except, that is, in the case of Phoenix Racing and the Eisbären Berlin! In May 2018, the DEL record champions visited the Meuspath-based racing team at the DTM race at the Lausitzring. The players were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Phoenix Racing and the chance to get to know the motorsport scene and share their experiences about ice hockey.

Ever since this first meeting, the racing team from the Eifel Mountains have been hooked! In March 2019, Phoenix Racing returned the favour by visiting the Eisbären Berlin in the capital. Not only were the team members taken on a guided tour of the club’s home rink, they kitted up to take on the Eisbären at their own game!

Team Principal Moser put out the team’s best ice-skaters so as not to embarrass themselves too much. The Eisbären had a special team selection of their own, too – this kind of special event is certainly something no-one wanted to miss. Check out our video to find out how the Phoenix Racing crew got on:

That wasn’t all, either. After the session, Phoenix Racing sat back and watched how the pros got on in their league match against the Kölner Haie. After 60 minutes of end-to-end ice hockey, the Eisbären prevailed, to take victory and round off a perfect day.

We would like to thank everyone at Eisbären Berlin, Nico Pyka and Gregor Fietze for the invite and the brilliant match. Our thanks also go to producer Matze Diedrichs and event commentator Lukas Gajewski for their assistance and to Mücke Motorsport for the requisites!
