Cédric Freiburghaus will once again be driving for Phoenix Racing in 2019 following on from a successful maiden season with the Meuspath-based team. The Swiss driver will continue to race the Audi R8 LMS GT4 in the GT4 European Series along with an as-yet-unnamed teammate.
“I’m really looking forward to my second season with Phoenix Racing”, the young driver said. “We had a great partnership last year even if the race weekends didn’t always go to plan. We learned a great deal and I am confident that we will be fighting at the head of the field in 2019. I can’t wait to get back in the car and onto the track. I would like to thank the team and my sponsors for giving me this chance.”
Freiburghaus has been racing in the GT4 European Series since 2017. In 2018, the 23-year-old drove the #3 Phoenix Racing Audi together with Polish driver Gosia Rdest, proofing his potential in the strong field numerous times and securing his best result in Misano with a third-place finish. The target for 2019 is further podiums. Freiburghaus’ teammate in the Audi R8 LMS GT4 will be announced in due course.
“We are happy to have Cédric in our team for a further GT4 European Championship season. Cedric and the team are working well together and for him it is the logical next step”, says team boss Ernst Moser. “Last year he often proved his great fighting spirit, but he wasn’t always rewarded for it. Together we want to build on this performance in 2019 and have a say in the title fight.”
