Endurance Cup squad expands

Ivan Pareras will be strengthening the Phoenix Racing driver-line-up in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. The young Spaniard was originally set to race in the 2019 GT4 European Series, but his performance convinced the team and as a result, he will be switching to the Audi R8 LMS GT3.

“Young talent Ivan Pareras is a quick learner with previous endurance racing experience”, said team manager Ernst Moser. “He did a good job during the pre-season tests and produced a fast average speed. We’re sure he’s ready for the challenges facing him in the GT3 car. The Spaniard will fit in very well with our young Endurance Cup team, where he’ll be joining Kim-Luis Schramm and Finlay Hutchison.”

The 18-year-old welcomes his new team’s trust: “Already being able to drive a GT3 for Phoenix Racing this year is clearly a great opportunity. It certainly won’t be easy, but I’ll do my best and thanks to the team’s experience, am sure I’ll learn a lot.”

Young addition Pareras has already demonstrated his strong endurance performance: in 2017, at the age of 16, he took pole position in the 24 Hours of Barcelona and went on to win it – as youngest driver of all time!

The Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup opens its season at the beginning of April. The first race is scheduled for 12 to 14 April in Monza, Italy.
