Blancpain: Phoenix clinches two class victories in season finale

The last of five race weekends in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup started really well for the Phoenix squad. In the first free practice session, the number 5 Audi R8 LMS of Nicolaj Møller Madsen and Alessio Picariello maintained the top spot and in the second free practice the sister car, number 6, of Niki Mayr-Melnhof and Markus Winkelhock ranked in second place.

In qualifying, the team based in Meuspath had no luck with the quality of the tires. The times from the practice sessions could not be repeated. As a result, the two Audi cars ended up only on grid positions 15 and 16. In the qualification race, Møller Madsen/Picariello advanced to seventh place, thus scoring class victory in the Silver Cup. The vehicle of Mayr-Melnhof/Winkelhock suffered suspension damage in an early collision and had to be parked.

In the main race, Mayr-Melnhof/Winkelhock still recovered from the last grid position to 16th place. Møller Madsen/Picariello, in position six and with another Silver Cup victory, ended a turbulent season on a positive note for the team.
