DTM: Unfortunate season opener at Hockenheim

During the race on Saturday Timo Scheider was entangled in a collision shortly after the start and forced to retire at an early stage. Mike Rockenfeller, as well, had to end his 100th race in the series early, after just four laps, due to suspension damage following several contacts. In Sunday’s race ‚Rocky‘ advanced to tenth place after having started from position 18 and rewarded himself with one point. Timo’s Audi RS 5 DTM was damaged in tussles during the early phase – for Scheider that meant another early end of the race.

Ernst Moser:
“On Saturday, we saw dominance by Audi. We were struck by misfortune ourselves – in that case, you’re only a passenger and there’s nothing you can do about it. Maybe we took a bit too much of a gamble in qualifying by saving a set of tires for the race. Timo, unfortunately, became the victim of extreme driving styles. A single point is a meager reward for the hard work of the team.”
