DTM: Mike Rockenfeller with broken foot in position two

Despite the disadvantage of having to use his right for accelerating and braking, Mike Rockenfeller clinched his second podium result and his best points haul of the season. “Rocky” defended a passing manoeuvre from BMW driver Augusto Farfus during the opening phase of the race and maintained his second position. In doing so, Rockenfeller kept his title chances open. “Today is a great day for my mechanics and I. They’ve worked so hard to rebuild my car after the crash at the Norisring. I do not think many people would have expected us to have done so well today. I’m very proud of my team.”

Teammate Loïc Duval also scored his best result of the season, finishing tenth in the race. Duval had a very strong qualifying session, but he then had to start from fifteenth on the grid after having received a grid penalty of five positions. This was due to him having been given three warnings so far during this season. The Frenchmen did however narrowly miss scoring his first points of the season.
