Successful season opener for Phoenix Racing in the VLN

Great sunshine and spring temperatures greeted the teams and drivers at the season opener of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring in the ever-changing Eifel. Frank Stippler, Nicolaj Møller Madsen and Dennis Busch were highly motivated after the long winter break. The driver trio from Phoenix Racing qualified with the sixth fastest time for the four-hour race.

Starting driver Busch, driving for Phoenix Racing for the first time, made a very good impression by moving forward two positions right from the start, and then put the blue, white and yellow Audi R8 LMS into fourth position.

Youngster Møller Madsen was also convincing during his stint on the famous Nordschleife. Unfortunately, bad luck hindered the Phoenix drivers, when they lost valuable time during a caution period.

Longtime Phoenix Racing driver, Frank Stippler, drove the no. 5 Audi R8 LMS during the final stint and brought the car home in position six.

Team manager Drik Theimann described the first race event of the 2017 season as a great success: “We are truly satisfied. It was a great day. Our three drivers each showed strong performances in great weather conditions. Dennis enjoyed a very good start to the race by progressing forward two positions. Hats off to him. Nicolaj also has not been with us for a long time and he also had a terrific stint. ‚Stippi’ once again gave his all and secured sixth place for us. We experienced some bad luck during the caution period, but all in all, it was a great event for us as we prepare for and look ahead to the Nürburgring 24 Hours.”
